Luscious lips

Lipgloss is like Marmite, you either love it or hate it. It either makes your lips look a million dollars or creates havoc when it comes to fly away hairs.
But like it or not Lipgloss is gonna be BIG this Fall, so here's some tips to creating the perfect pout!

MAKE IT LAST - the only way your gloss is going to last is if your lips are in the best condition possible. Before applying your choice of gloss, apply a lip balm to moisturise and get rid of any dead skin.

PRIMER - before you apply your colour, try dabbing a little primer on your lips first. If you don't have any primer you can always use a little foundation or concealer. It'll give the colour something to cling onto and make the colour more brighter.

LIPLINER - one of my fav tricks with gloss is to use a lip liner underneath instead of a lipstick. First line your lips with the pencil and then fill the rest in and cover with a gloss of a similar colour.

FINISH UP - when your all done a great trick is to add a tiny bit of shimmery eye shadow over the top of your gloss ( only a little bit as you don't wanna look like a walking disco ball ). Make sure its the same shade as your lip colour and dab it on gently with your finger.

And your ready to pose and pout!

The Jamaica Inn

Hey there guys.

I've just returned from a short break in Cornwall, and while the beautiful fresh air and gorgeous coasts were amazing, I have to admit my favourite part of the trip was visiting the Jamaica inn of Bodmin Moor.
The inn has so much history and was once a coaching house in the 1750's where travellers would stay and change over their horses during their journeys. The inn is also believed to be haunted by the ghosts of smugglers and thieves who were murdered there.
There have been many sightings over the years by many different people and the team from the tv show 'most haunted' said it was one of the creepiest places they had ever been to. There is a story of a young traveller who went to the inn for a drink and was summoned outside by a stranger and was never seen alive again. His body was found the next morning on the moors. It is said that his ghost has been seen returning to the bar to finish his drink.
The inn is now a bar and restaurant with a museum and gift shop but most of the original structure still remains.
There has always been a debate about the difference between spirits and ghosts. Let me clear this up quickly. A spirit is the soul of a person who has crossed over into the afterlife but may on occasion return to the physical world to pass on a message or help a loved one to cross over. A ghost is the soul of a person which is trapped/stuck in the physical world for one reason or another. These reasons could be that the soul does not realise it has died (this can happen if the death was sudden and unexpected) or the soul is attached to a person believing these people wouldn't be able to cope without them (they could also be attached to an item or a place) or a well known one- they have unfinished business ( a cliche but its true). There is also, what we call an 'echo haunting' where the ghost will replay a moment during their life ( ie, on a war field) over and over again.
This visit was the last day of my trip so I didn't get the chance to stay over which was a shame but I did manage to capture some rather spooky images and an orb while using my camera. Unfortunately I haven't had chance to upload them yet but I'll share them with you as soon as I do.

So if you're ever in the Cornwall area, please check out the Jamaica Inn. Its deffo worth it and it'll send those little chills up your spine.

Dale Farm 'The ongoing battle'

It's been in the news for a fair few weeks now and it'll be hard to find anyone who hasn't heard about the Traveller Community and their battle to keep their homes on the Dale Farm site in Basildon, Essex.
But should they be allowed to stay?
It has been said that Travellers choose this lifestyle because it grants them freedom and a chance to live a full life without the same worries as people who are 'settled' , who pay council taxes and water bills etc. But these travellers are NOT travelling, they ARE settled and yet they still don't have to cough up the money that ordinary people pay. We pay our taxes for the NHS and schooling for our children and yet they pay nothing and are still entitled to these things.
Its understandable why so many people want them to leave the site. The land in question IS owned by the travellers but the buildings upon it have been built without planning permission, and this is the problem. They say, as its their land they should be allowed to build what they like on it...fair enough...but Travellers or not, we ALL have to have planning permission before building on our own land so what should exempt them from the rules. Now I don't like the fact that anyone should lose their home, but no matter what religion or nationality you are, if you choose to live in this country you have to follow the rules, the same as everyone else. Am I being to harsh? Perhaps! But we are all entitled to an opinion and if someone wanted to show me the other side of the argument then I will listen.

Healthy hair

Massive tip for healthy hair!

Washing- okay so a lot of professionals and shampoo manufacturers tell us to wash our hair daily and they do have a reason for this.....so you end up going through a bottle of shampoo quicker resulting in more yearly purchases. Basically every time you wash your hair you may be ridding it of dirt but you're also stripping the natural oils, and doing this daily sends your oil production into overdrive so when you miss just ONE day of washing you find your hair gets greasy uber quickly because its producing excess oil to compensate for the fact you strip it everyday. Now this won't be pretty but to rectify this you must stop washing your hair for a least a week or two. In the meantime tie it up in a sleek ponytail or cover with a hat but DO NOT give into temptation. For the first few days your hair will be producing oil at an alarming rate (which is normal if you wash it every day but you don't realise because you always wash off the excess oil daily). Now after a few days the oil production will slow and return to normal as your body realises that your no longer continuously stripping it and therefore it doesn't need to over compensate.
After a 10 day period its time to wash your hair. You have now managed to get your hair back into a 'routine' and you'll probably find after this first wash you won't need to wash it again for a couple of days and you'll deffo notice it won't get as greasy as quickly as it used to.
The best upkeep for your hair to stop it becoming greasy but to also stop it drying out is to wash it every 3 days and for some people once a week is quite adequate, with maybe a spritz of dry shampoo inbetween to give it that fresh feeling.
Believe me, your hair DOES NOT need to be washed everyday...and it'll thank you for it :)

Ps- The less natural oil you have on your hair the better the chance it'll have of holding onto any dye/colour...FACT

Magnetic Nails?

Yes you read that right, the new 'it' trend at the moment is Magnetic Nail Polish.
You paint on the polish like normal and then hold a magnet over each nail for a few seconds. ( Thankfully the magnet is usually included so you don't have to rummaging around a tool box.
The polish contains teeny weeny little metal particles which when come into contact with the magnet, they get pushed in the opposite direction resulting in some amazing patterns.
They're all the rage with Celebrities right now but they're still new on the scene so be one of the first to rock the trend.
